Mission Hills

About

Mission Hills is located north of Downtown on hills overlooking Old Town and the bay. This distinguished neighborhood is known for its carefully preserved historic homes designed by San Diego’s premier architects. It was officially founded in 1908 but the first home was actually built in 1887. The Mission Hills Nursery has been providing plants and advice to local homeowners since 1910. The area is primarily residential, with some boutique shops and restaurants. Heritage Park, Mission Hills Park, Pioneer Park, and Presidio Park offer acres of recreational space.

Historic Districts

San Diego loves its architectural delights, and the City regularly designates old houses as new historic landmarks. A rich collection of these gems can be found in Mission Hills, where many classic architectural styles are represented. Mission Hills is fortunate to have two designated historic districts — Fort Stockton Line Historic District and Mission Hills Historic District. Additional districts are currently in the works. Owners of homes with historic designation can save substantially on their property taxes. MORE
